Winter Solstice! The shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. Traditionally, religions and spiritual traditions have long honoured this day through various festivals and holidays. In my part of the world, we prepare a special meal to commemorate this day, that is usually linked to gratitude and celebration.

In a more spiritual sense, this is the time of year for reflection and introspection. It’s a time where we give thanks for an amazing year that went back, where we sit in meditative solitude and reflect on what we’ve experienced and make time for setting intentions and manifestations that we want to see come true in Spring.

As it aligns with the Capricorn season, a Cardinal Earth sign straddling both the end of the year and the beginning of a new one, tap on the ambitious, disciplined, planner energy of Cappy to get you to where you want to be.

Some things you could do this winter solstice:

• Hibernate, rest and take it slow and easy
• Reflect on your experience this year using the tarot spread below or any journal prompts you have
• Take care of yourself. Show yourself some love and do something that you’ve been thinking of doing for some time
• Take a long walk outside and connect with nature
• Celebrate with close friends or family
• Cook something warm for yourself/family and infuse it with loads of earthy love
• Meditate, connect with your spirit guides, pull some tarot/oracle cards
• Read, write, paint, listen to music, watch movies; just connect to your creative side
• Snuggle up in bed, all warm and cosy with hot chocolate/your fav beverage. Yum!
