Review: Dark Tales – Shirley Jackson

Sonia Post a comment

What worked:

A collection of 17 interesting, spooky tales. As with any short story collection, some are better and spookier than the others. But the thing I love about Jackson’s brand of horror is the atmosphere and tension she builds up. You always feel like though everything looks and feels normal, that something sinister is about to happen; love it! She really is the Queen of Horror.

What did not work:

Some stories seemed half-finished or left me wondering how to make sense of what happened. So those made me wish they were longer!

Overall rating: 5/5 stars
