Which was why I spent all of last year trying so damn hard to love myself and treat myself better. And let me tell you – it was SO HARD.
We are all programmed to feel like we are not good enough. That we need to try harder. We tell ourselves we can’t be as good as other people. We guilt and shame ourselves for having needs. We don’t allow ourselves to make any mistakes.
Harsh, harsh, harsh.

How do you start treating yourself better and loving yourself?
When I was going through my self-love journey, I started with the easier stuff – like giving myself permission to do the things I wanted to. Like sit in a café and read or to just laze around on a Saturday watching movies and drinking latte after latte.
Boy was it hard, it was worse than getting up at 7am to run 5km round my block. All sorts of thoughts and crap came up – “You are wasting your time watching all these movies, do something productive!” “You are not supposed to be resting when there’s tons of work to do!” “How can you even think of relaxing when you’ve got a whole room to declutter?!”
Guilt. Shame. Blame. Criticism.
Have you felt the same way? Have you done the same things to yourself over and over?
Aren’t you sick of it? Don’t you want to feel differently about yourself? Start living differently?
Cause when that happens, when you start treating yourself better and loving yourself, you start to see how the world opens up to you, you start to see opportunities that used to be there but you just couldn’t see, people start responding to you differently, you start feeling brighter.
And people and the world sit up and take notice of this new you, because you will start seeing more love and joy and similarly high-vibing people and situations flow into your life.
Giving yourself permission to do stuff is just one of the many ways to start attracting and manifesting more love and opportunities in your life.

The heart chakra is responsible for the relationships that we have with others and also with ourselves. When our heart chakras are clear and unblocked, we will be able to have mostly healthy and loving relationships with ourselves.
When it’s blocked though, we struggle with self-doubt, our inner critic is loud, we do not know how to express ourselves healthily and we are disconnected from ourselves. This manifests into relationships in our lives that can bring us grief and unhappiness too.
